A regular meeting of the board was called to order at 7:30 PM in the Macedon Town Hall. Meeting minutes from the, March 22, 2012 meeting were approved. Correspondence was reported from the DOT stating that the request for a speed limit extension on Canandaigua Road southerly to 40 mph was denied. After conducting a study the DOT concluded the reduction is not warranted, but did suggest snow fencing and increased de-icing efforts, as well as increasing the number and size of the curve warning signs, as well as analyzing the advisory speed limit of the curve to confirm it is keeping with the current standards as some possible measures the town may take to insure additional safety. A second piece of correspondence was received from the American Legion, inviting the Town Board to attend the Memorial Day Parade and festivities on Monday, May 28th. Monthly Reports from the Town Clerk, Historian, and Police Department, as well as the quarterly Building and Zoning Report were also approved.

Approved resolutions included the acceptance of a donation of $2,820.00 from the Pal-Mac Soccer Booster Club for the purchase of a new set of soccer goals and nets. The board also authorized Supervisor Hammond to sign a rental agreement contract with Pitney Bowes for an automatic digital mailing system at a monthly fee of $177.00, to be billed quarterly for a period of 60 months. Engineer to the Town, Building Inspector and Zoning Officer, Mr. Scott Allen approached the board regarding the Part Time Code Enforcement Officer, Mr. Aaron Thompson, who has been accumulating an average of $100 in mileage reimbursements monthly. Mr. Allen requested the board consider keeping the 2005 S10 Blazer that has low mileage and is already owned, fully insured, and striped for the Town, as opposed to surplusing it, for Town Employee use. He explained that it would be a more practical decision as it will eliminate mileage expenses and minimize risks from employees using personal vehicles on town business, which are insured by varying insurance policies. The board then agreed with a consensus to appoint the vehicle for employee use. Lastly, the board authorized Supervisor Hammond to sign a contract with Davis-Ulmer Sprinkler Company for services in multiple town buildings, in the amount of $3,630.00, which is a savings of $1,928.00 with the previous service provider, Simplex-Grinnell, and includes additional identified work needed.

Lastly, Councilwoman Pagano took the opportunity to remind the board that this Sunday, April 15th, there will be a pancake breakfast at the Macedon Fire Hall from 8:00 AM- 12:00 PM, along with a child safety seat inspection.

Engineer to the Town, Building Inspector and Zoning Officer Scott Allen reported that new stop signs will be placed at Erie and Magog Roads. He also reported that Wal-Mart has offered to purchase all necessary food items for a cook-out fundraiser for the Town of Macedon Ambulance and Fire Departments to receive 100% of the profits from. He also reported that 3 unhealthy trees were removed from the front landscaping of the Town Complex and will be replaced by 7 Crimson Maple trees. Additionally 3 other trees along the side and back will be removed and replaced.

Supervisor Hammond reported that the United Way Day of Sharing Campaign is running from April 16th through May 11th. Filer’s Power Sports is acting as the town’s collection site for non-perishable donations. He also reported the tax preparation service provided by the AARP out of the Town Hall was a success which many residents were able to take advantage of, and Mr. Hammond expressed his thanks for that. Lastly he reported having called Ms. Marie Cramer, the newly elected Mayor of the Village of Macedon to express his congratulations and requested a dual meeting of the two boards.
No other business came before the board and the public meeting was adjourned at 8:20 PM and the board then met in Executive Session. The next regular meeting of the board will be held on Thursday, April 26th, at 7:30 PM in the Macedon Town Hall.
