Mayor Cramer Takes the Reigns
Mayor Marie Cramer called a meeting of the board to order at 7:00, and began with introductions of the newly elected board. Continuing terms as Trustees Marcy Frey and Dave Kelly remain on the board, and voted in for a second term as Trustee, along with newly elected Trustee sit Dave Sliney and Don Lohse, with Marie Cramer as the newly elected Mayor.
Meeting minutes from the March 28th meeting were approved with one change, and the April 13th Abstract in the amount of $52,726.07 was also approved. Highway Superintendent Dave LeMoyne approached the board with a request to replace the 2004 ¾ ton Utility Truck which has 74,300 miles and is currently realizing increasing maintenance costs. He presented the board with a state bid quote for a replacement truck, with a total cost of $34,362.03 including delivery and all upgrades. The board approved the request.
Under Correspondence, a resignation letter from Mayor Cramer from the Planning Board was accepted and filed, and a letter from the American legion Post was shared, inviting the Macedon Village Board to attend and participate in the annual Memorial Day Parade and festivities on Monday, May 28th. Also, a letter from HSBC Bank was received, stating that the Village of Macedon needs to amend authorized signers for the banking accounts due to the change in leadership. Discussion ensued, and ultimately the board authorized the removal of Mr. James Hoteling and Mr. Ken Schreiber from the accounts, and added Ms. Marie Cramer’s name as a new authorized signer.
In other business, the board approved the postponement of the Annual Organizational Meeting to Wednesday, April 25th, in order to give the new mayor time to meet with everyone prior to the meeting. Deputy Town Clerk, Kathy Reilly, was approved to attend the PERMA Annual Conference regarding Workman’s Compensation on May 24th and 25th, which is a budgeted item. The board also approved Mayor Cramer and Trustee Lohse to attend the annual NYCOM meeting on May 6th through May 8th, which is also a budgeted item. The board also approved a new policy to allow additional abstracts to be signed at the second meeting of each month if they will incur a late fee. The board then discussed and ultimately approved the Village of Macedon’s Membership with Canal New York, with a membership fee of $100.00, stating it is “Very important for a municipality to join, it is a great asset.”
Other discussion items included the possibility of having the Village Attorney present during one, or both, monthly board meetings, as “good practice”. Mayor Cramer reported she will look further into that possibility. Discussion regarding Village Business Cards was also had, and the board agreed to purchase new, updated ones as they are currently laid out and one separate set of cards for Mayor Cramer, with solely her contact information on them.
Lastly, Mayor Cramer reported that the Village will be participating in the 7th Annual Canal Clean Sweep, on April 20th and 21st. The meeting point for volunteers will be at the Canal Park at 8:00 AM, and will be focusing on the Canal Park, Lock #30, and behind Berry Plastics. The state will provide trash bags, bottled water, and trash collection. Volunteers are urges to bring weeding tools. Anyone with questions can contact Village of Macedon Trustee, Ms. Marcy Frey.
No other business came before the board and the meeting was adjourned at 8:10. The next regular meeting of the Macedon Village Board will be held on Wednesday, March 25th, at 7:00 PM in the Macedon Village Hall.
