Did You Know?

Every now and again, I come across some interesting things: facts, stats, and all kinds of fun stuff I probably never would have found without the web. Some of my favorites are odd laws that are still “on the books” across the country. Obviously it doesn’t mean that any of them are still enforced, but interesting stuff none the less.

In Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, You cannot serve alcohol in a nightclub if dancing is occurring on the premises at the same time.

In Kentucky, it’s illegal to sell ducklings that you’ve dyed a different color…unless you’re selling at least 6 at a time. (One of my favorites) Also, a woman may not buy a hat without her husband’s permission. Makes sense, no?

Over in Montana, it’s against the law for married women to go fishing alone on Sundays, and illegal for unmarried women to fish alone period. In case they fell in I guess? Let’s all just fish in pairs as a general rule from now on – Safety first. Also, why Montana made it illegal to bring a bomb or rocket to city council proceedings…but after the meeting is ok?

In the United States, the IRS employees’ handbook has instructions which guide employees on how to collect taxes after a nuclear war. Really guys? Really?

Here’s a good one: The majority of people who read the word yawn or yawning begin to feel the urge to yawn. Weird, right?

Ok, last one, it’s the Fourth of July and I don’t feel like writing a column! I bet you already knew that one though.
