Jerks, idiots and other a-holes

The political season is coming into full swing. That means we will hear all about President Obama not really being born in the U.S. That means we will hear that Mitt Romney made too much money and is a Mormon to boot. Obama is a racist and Romney is a homophobe.

Then, there is the Congressional race between incumbent Ann Marie Buerkle and once incumbent Dan Maffei who are already throwing barbs back and forth in that critical hot seat. I don’t print the almost daily crap we receive from either camp, but it makes interesting fodder for conspiracy and political theorists.

I swear one of the requirements to becoming a political hatchet man/woman is that you must come up with new shocking headlines for rehashed garbage on a daily basis, and actually believe all the rhetoric you promote.

Moving on…
Last week Wife Patti received a late phone call from a Gananda resident. Patti is knee deep in the Gananda Rotary and promotes the club and especially the upcoming Gananda Rotary Annual Garage Sale.

For those unaware of the annual garage sale to be held this year on Saturday June 9th and Sunday June 10th, it involves over 300 Gananda residents participating. The Rotary uses the event as a fundraiser for the Gananda Scholarship fund and other Rotary activities.

Rotary pays for Portapotties, signs and advertising for the event. I know from experience, the Club puts a great deal of time and effort into this community event.

Back to the ‘a-hole’ who called the house last week. He called to inform my wife that he has no intention of paying the $8 collected from residents who sell garage sale stuff on the day of the event. The cheap bastard said he was going to hold his garage sale that day anyway. He also said he did not feel he was getting his money’s worth paying the $8 entry fee. Bad enough the a-hole isn’t going to pay to support the Rotary efforts, but he actually took the time to call and say he wouldn’t pay (?). Every year the Rotary people who collect from the yard sale participants run into one or two who refuse to pay, out of the 300+. This guy challenged my wife to call the police if we didn’t like it. She just shook her head, said “whatever” and hung up the phone.
Me, I think I’ll print the name and address of the cheap SOB so his neighbors, who don’t already know what a jerk he is, are kept informed of his jerktatude.

The County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution at a special meeting last Thursday. The Board will forward a letter to the powers to be concerning the recent crop loss some fruit growers are experiencing due to the weird weather. Declare the area a disaster and therefore allow the farmers to get special government assistance in weathering the weather. Gee, sounds like too much government to me. This country was not originally built on government assistance, but hey, a handout is a handout as long as I get mine, right?
