What a year…

I could pretend I knew what was going on in the world of sports this week, but in reality I’ve been extremely busy the past few weeks with work and being a husband and dad. I wake up, I work, I come home, my wife goes to the gym, I spend daddy time with my daughter, put her to sleep, spend time with my wife, work, sleep and do it all over again.
The only sports I’ve been watching is during daddy/daughter time at night and to be honest, I don’t really pay attention. Could you, with a face like this staring back at you (see picture of our daughter Camryn…who is going to turn 12 weeks this weekend)?

She did show interest in the Olympic trials and the NBA draft tonight (happy to see Dion Waiters picked 4th overall!). She just sat on my lap and stared at the TV. I figured if I can get her to enjoy watching sports with me at an early age, then maybe mommy will get overruled later in life and have to watch her Sex in the City reruns in the other room. However, Camryn did smile when my wife mentioned shopping the other day.

Speaking of my beautiful wife….we celebrate our one year anniversary next week (July 3rd). I can’t believe how much has happened in one year and how quickly in went!

We got married, went on a wonderful honeymoon, found out we were expecting, I took a new job, and we were blessed with the birth of a beautiful, healthy baby girl (who sleeps through the night).

Last year (before we knew we were expecting) we thought we would be celebrating our one year anniversary in some tropical location.

Instead, we will be spending a night in Geneva and then will be taking a family trip up to my wife’s grandparents cottage…..and I couldn’t be more excited.

It’s amazing how much your priorities change when you have a baby. When my wife and I go out on a date now, we usually spend the car ride watching videos of our daughter that we took on our cell phone earlier in the day. While we enjoy spending out time together, we can’t wait to get back to see her.

For all those people who say that life doesn’t change that much when you get married….I think you’re nuts. It gets better!!

Happy anniversary honey! I can’t wait to make even more memories this year!

Back to sports next week…
