Class CCC semifinals
No. 11 Williamson 7, No. 7 Bishop Kearney 2
Greg Stitt pitched a complete-game four-hitter for the win. Austin Reid was 2-for-4 with a three-run triple in the second inning to give Williamson a 4-2 lead. Kearney scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-1 lead. Brian Easterly had an RBI-triple in the first for BK. Williamson advanced to the championship game for the first time since 1970. Brandon DeRue was 3-for-4 with two runs scored for the Marauders (9-14). BK finished 11-9.
Class CC semfinals
No.1 Lyons 7, No.4 Pavilon 2
Derick Fera finished 2-for-4 with three runs driven in and Hayden Lester went 1-for-2 with a double and two runs scored for Lyons (19-3). Ben Ghise went 2-for-4 for the Golden Gophers (14-5).
Class B quarterfinals
No.4 Greece Odyssey 7, No.5 North Rose-Wolcott 2
Mike Bessette earned the win with nine strikeouts over six innings and Connor O’Shea, Tyler Smola and Cameron Christoffel each collected two hits for the Leopards (11-9). Caleb Miraglin had an RBI single in the first inning NR-W (9-11).
Class A quarterfinals
No. 2 Wayne vs. No. 7 Brighton
Josh Thomas singled to lead off the eighth and scored on Will Beers’ triple to give Brighton (13-9) a 6-5 lead. Beers scored on a sacrifice fly from Ryan O’Connor and Ernie Clement doubled and scored on Taylor Hogan’s infield single that resulted in a throwing error. Wayne scored twice in the bottom half of the eighth. Brighton trailed 5-0 after three innings. Alex El-Ani pitched five innings in relief with two runs allowed and four strikeouts for the win. Clement finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored abd Thomas was 2-for-3 for the Barons. Zach Gutberlet was 3-for-4 for the Eagles (18-3).
Class BB quarterfinals
Pal-Mac 3, Bath 2
Pal-Mac’s Matt Hall went 2-for3 with 1 RBI, Colsten Schiek gave up 4 hits in 6 innings for the win.
Boys Varsity Tennis
Class B finals
No.1 Livonia 4, No.2 Pal-Mac 1
Gabe Cunningham defeated Matt Whightman 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 at first singles as Livonia (13-2) won its first Section V Class B championship in its first ever appearance. Wansi Habtz and Pete Sauter were winners over Tyler Boardwell and Chris Knapp in first doubles 6-3, 6-1 for the Bulldogs. Pal-Mac finishes 11-4.
