Lyons Girls Varsity Volleyball remains undefeated with win over Dundee; Girls Soccer team outlasts Dundee in 2nd OT


Boys Varsity Soccer

Monday, October 3rd

Wayne 3, Victor 2
Paul Dinehart had two goals, including the winner in the 70th minute off a through ball from Braydon Riel, to lead Wayne (5-3-2) to a 3-2 win over Victor (2-8) in a non-league game Monday.

Williamson 5, Romulus 0

Sophomore Tom Ferland had a goal and two assists and Reuben Marquez added a goal and an assist for Williamson (8-3). Mitchell Steurrys made six saves for the Marauders.

Girls Varsity Soccer

Monday, October 3rd

Gananda 5, Newark 5

Gananda and Newark played to a 5-5 tie on Monday night. Gananda’s Jordyn Ruston was the first to score on a penalty kick at the 39:05 mark. Newark followed with 2 goals of its own in the first half. Brynn Lauer scored off a pass from Rachel Uhrich (35:25) and then Uhrich scored unassisted (32:09) to make the score 2-1. Gananda’s Jessica McDowell answered at the 28:11 mark, making the score at the half 2-2.

The scoring by both teams continued into the second half. Ruston scored on a header from McDowell off a corner (33:03) and Gananda’s Kati White from McDowell off another corner at 24:04. Newark’s Uhrich and Lauer also added goals in the second half for Newark.

Lyons 1, Dundee 0 (2 OT)

Claudia Henry scored on a rebound off a direct kick by Briana Scott one minute into the second overtime for Lyons (2-6-2). Beth McGory made two saves for the Lions. Brooke Howell made 21 saves for Dundee (0-8-1).

Girls Varsity Volleyball

Monday, October 3rd

Lyons 3, Dundee 0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-9)
Taylor DiSanto finished with 24 assists and Sherece Smallwood chipped in with four blocks for Lyons (13-0). McKenna Hasting had seven kills for Dundee (2-7).

Pal-Mac 3, Livonia 0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-11)
Junior Christina Standinger had five kills and two aces for Pal-Mac (8-2). Livonia is 6-5.
