Newark man dies after motor vehicle accident in Sodus

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident which occurred on Hill Road in the Town of Sodus on Tuesday (3/6) at approximately 10:10pm.

A Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy had stopped a vehicle on Hill Road for a Vehicle and Traffic infraction. On the Deputies approach the vehicle accelerated away northbound on Hill Road. The Deputy returned to his vehicle and continued on to follow the vehicle. Approximately 3/4 miles north of the initial stop, the deputy found that the vehicle left the road to the left, struck a culvert and became airborne. The vehicle rolled multiple times before coming to rest.

The deputy found the two occupants trapped in the vehicle. The driver, Timothy L. White, age 36 of Newark, was pronounced dead at the scene by Wayne County Coroner, Dr. David Hannan. The passenger, Terry E. Anglin , age 39 from Newark, was transported to Strong Memoral Hospital by Mercy Flight with head injuries.
